There are many kinds of telescope, we can distinguish them by the shape.
There are two size screws in tripod system and they are 1/4" and 3/8".
Small telescopes mostly used in the 1/4 inch interface screw hole, can be compatible with the camera tripod, the binoculars interface is always not at the bottom, but at the front end, then you need Binoculars bracket adapter / adapter ring / L-shaped metal shaft adapter / tripod accessories and other adapters to transfer.
The bottom of the camera and the ordinary tripod are mostly with 1/4" interface, but the bottom screw hole of the professional-grade ball head is 3/8". The professional tripod is suitable for this situation, the screw at the top of the shaft. Generally, a double-headed screw is used, one end is 1/4, and one end is 3/8, so that it can be installed as needed.
I hope that the simple explanation will give you a basic understanding of the supporting tripods required for small telescopes and small photographic telescopes!
